Hill Associates Corporation is seeking a Network Monitoring Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team supporting the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) in a Washington, D.C. cabinet-level federal agency. The Network Monitoring SME will support the planning, deployment, configuration, and tuning of Cisco ThousandEyes products and services across enterprise Information Technology (IT) infrastructure assets. The position requires experience with the Cisco ThousandEyes product line, familiarity with enterprise IT infrastructure, and a general understanding IT project management.

 

The position will interface with federal employee and contractor stakeholders at various organizational levels. The candidate must have excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, work independently and be capable of working with teams, be highly self-motivated, and be a quick learner. Interface requirements include, but are not limited to, technical staff, business operations staff, vendors, and client leadership (CXOs).

 

This position requires U.S. Citizenship.  The candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust suitability clearance.  Priority given to local candidates within 50 miles of the District of Columbia.

 

What You Will Get to Do:

 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for ThousandEyes within the enterprise IT environment.

  • Engage stakeholders to assess enterprise IT assets for potential network monitoring using Cisco ThousandEyes products and services.

  • Support the development and execution of project plans for enabling network monitoring services across enterprise IT infrastructure and for consumers of enterprise services.

  • Develop cost estimates based on service deployment scenarios.

  • Support planning, deployment, configuration, and tuning of ThousandEyes services.

  • Develop, customize, and maintain network monitoring reports and dashboards. 

  • Develop deployment and configuration guides for network monitoring services.

  • Support the development of an enterprise incident response plan for monitored services and support the execution of the plan as needed.

  • Provide regular and ad-hoc project status reports.

  • Support the development of plans, strategies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in creating, managing, and communicating network monitoring reports, plans, and topics. 

  • Create documentation to include but not limited to, policies and procedures, installation guides, strategic and technical deployment recommendations, marketing materials, and others.

  • Develop presentation materials for marketing, project status, and/or operational reporting. 

 

Requirements:

 
  • Strong familiarity and experience with Cisco ThousandEyes products and services.

  • 15 years of professional experience related to IT.

  • Master’s degree in IT or a related field of study. (Work experience may be substituted for the advanced degree requirement.)

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). 

  • Ability to work in complex situations with varying degrees of ambiguity and change as the market continues to evolve and mature.

  • Critical and creative thinker with superior attention to detail, with strong analytic skills.

 

Desired Experience:

 
  • Direct experience with the Federal Government.

  • Certifications in networking or related technical areas.

  • Provide project management support for the services as a subject matter expert for the deployment, configuration, and tuning of Cisco ThousandEyes products and services. 

  • Support the development and execution of project plans for enabling network monitoring services across enterprise IT infrastructure and for consumers of enterprise services.

  • Engage stakeholders to assess enterprise and customer IT assets for potential network monitoring using Cisco ThousandEyes products and services.

  • Develop templates to assist in the collection and consolidation of technical information from stakeholders interested in leveraging the service.

  • Facilitate the development of network monitoring services as an enterprise offering, available to internal enterprise stakeholders as a service offering leveraging existing enterprise service mechanics.

  • Develop cost estimates based on service deployment scenarios.

  • Collect, consolidate, and support adjudication of monitoring and reporting requirements.

  • Maintain project execution materials such as project plans, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), and other relevant materials.

  • Provide project status reports intended for consumption at various organizational levels.

  • Develop an enterprise incident response plan for monitored services and support the execution of the plan as needed.

  • Support the development of plans, strategies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in creating, managing, and communicating network monitoring reports, plans, and topics.
